Verity Beck, 45, pleaded "guilty but mentally ill" to two first-degree murder counts, the district attorney's office said. She was given two life sentences that will be served concurrently.

Beck will also receive mental health treatment while serving her prison time, according to the district attorney's office.

Beck's parents were found dead in their Jenkintown home on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023. They were shot in the head and then dismembered with a chainsaw, authorities said at the time.

Verity Beck, who was 43 years old at the time, was charged with murder in the death of her parents Reid and Miriam Beck, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said in a press conference Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Investigators say the couple was last heard from on Saturday, Jan. 7 and may have been dead for over a week before they were discovered late on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Officers stopped by the home after a concerned relative requested a wellness check.

Inside, police found Beck along with a human body wrapped in a bedsheet, with evidence of another body nearby. DA Steele said there were "signs of extreme trauma present" and that both victims were observed in "various stages of dismemberment."

Investigators believe Reid and Miriam Beck were fatally shot before they were dismembered, and multiple guns were recovered from the family home. Steele noted that Beck lived at the Beverly Road property with her parents before their murders.

Beck was charged with first- and third-degree murder. She was not eligible for bail.
